Crop Insurance Program

Coverage: Individual or collective?

For cereals and grain corn, individual and collective coverage are offered. How do you choose?

Choosing between the two is often a question of cost, since collective coverage is less expensive. Individual coverage has the advantage of being more personalized and tailored to the specific needs of your farm business.

Individual coverage

If you have individual coverage, a damage appraisal is made for your specific farm. Any compensation paid corresponds to your actual losses, according to the benefit option you have chosen.

Collective coverage

If you have collective coverage, a damage appraisal is made collectively for all farming enterprises on a same meteorological station territory for hay or in a same geographical zone for other insurable crops.

The compensation corresponds to the average losses experienced by businesses in your weather station territory or geographical area.
