About the Program

Crop insurance: Over and above AgriStability

What are the benefits of maintaining crop insurance while participating in the AgriStability program?

  • Crop insurance benefits are paid, as need be, when damage is detected on your insured crop, regardless of the other crops you may produce.
  • Crop insurance proceeds are considered allowable income under AgriStability and AgriInvest programs, and the contributions are counted as allowable expenses under the AgriStability program.
  • When you participate in crop insurance with a minimum 70% coverage level, there is no reduction in AgriStability program benefits in the event your operation’s program year margin is negative.

Participating in crop insurance therefore makes it possible for you to protect your farm operation’s allowable income, maintain its historical margin and fully benefit from the AgriStability program when other uncontrollable events cause a decline in your income.

Therefore, by enrolling in crop insurance, you benebit fully from the AgriStability and AgriInvest programs.
