The mission of La Financière agricole du Québec is to support and encourage the development of the agricultural and agri-food sector within a perspective of sustainable development. In fulfilling its mission, the agency focuses in particular on the development of the primary sector.
Created in 2001, La Financière agricole du Québec is the result of a consensus obtained between the government and the agricultural community.
Its mandate is to stimulate investments and protect income with the aim of promoting the success and longevity of Québec's farm businesses. As the unique Québec government agency responsible for managing financial tools for agricultural needs, it plays a primary role in the development of the agricultural and agri-food sector.
With its network of representatives throughout the Québec territory and a real concern for the success of its clientele, La Financière agricole has business dealings with over 26,000 farm businesses and over 1200 forestry operations. It safeguards insured assets worth $5 billion. Its portfolio of loans also reaches $4.3 billion.
La Financière agricole offers a wide range of financial tools to ensure the economic and financial stability of farm businesses: agricultural and forestry financing with guarantied loans, protection against interest rate hikes, financial assistance for establishment in agriculture, capital risk investment, stabilization insurance, crop insurance and the business risk management programs (AgriStability and AgriInvest).
Through its many achievements, La Financière agricole du Québec contributes to the economic development of Québec and its regions. Through its income stabilization and interest rate protection programs, La Financière agricole fosters a business environment conducive to investment.
