Canada-Quebec Initiative to Assist Livestock Producers in Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19 for 2020-2021

Eligibility

To be eligible under the Program, you must:

  • be registered with the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec, in accordance with the Regulation respecting the registration of agricultural operations and the payment of property taxes and compensations, for the period covered by the claim for compensation.
  • own eligible livestock.
  • have incurred unusual costs to keep surplus animals on the farm during the periods in question.
    • Feeder pigs: March 30 to June 20, 2020 and September 7, 2020 to March 7, 2021
    • Feeder cattle: December 17, 2020 to March 31, 2021
    • Large game: March 13 to June 17, 2020 and October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021
  • submit an application to participate in the Initiative no later than July 30, 2021.
  • comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including laws and regulations under the responsibility of the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec.

Eligible Livestock

Eligible animals are those listed in the table below. They must be raised in Quebec and intended for slaughter for human consumption. Note that animals kept for breeding purposes are excluded.
