On November 23, the winners of the 2016 Tournez-vous vers l’excellence! Contest were announced during Colloque Gestion, a management seminar organized by the Québec Reference Centre for Agriculture and Agri-food (CRAAQ), in Drummondville.
It should be mentioned that the Tournez-vous vers l’excellence! Contest was created in 2005 by La Financière agricole du Québec and aims to recognize new farm entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves with their professional skills and management qualities.
The grand prize winner of the 11th edition and recipient of a $5000 grant is Marie-Chantal Houde, from Bergerie et Fromagerie Nouvelle France, located in Racine in the Estrie region.
This young entrepreneur wants her artisanal cheese dairy to become a Canadian reference when it comes to the best fine cheeses made from sheep’s milk, therefore contributing to Québec’s reputation in this production sector.
The two runner-ups, each receiving a $2500 grant, are Éléonore Macle, from Intermiel, located in Mirabel in the Laurentians, and Steve Michel, from Ruchers de la Mère Michel, located in Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska in the Centre-du-Québec region.
The $1500 grant from FIRA was awarded to Jean-François Dion from Aux fruits de la colline, a market garden farm located in Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce.
