Electronic Transfer of Live Animal Transactions: Feeder Cattle and Slaughter Cattle

Determining your insurable volume and obtaining your compensation requires the transmission of your live animal transactions.

In Four Easy Steps

Step 1: Gather the Material You Need

If you have not already done so, simply obtain:

  • user code and password qui that will allow you to access your on-line file on the website of La Financière agricole and enable you to securely transmit your data;
  • A software program designed especially for this purpose and approved by La Financière agricole:
  • A stick reader that you can purchase at Agri-Traçabilité Québec (l'ATQ) or from any other supplier, providing the equipment is compatible with the above-mentioned software programs. A grant from the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) is available for this purpose. Ask about it when you make your purchase or inquire at your regional union.

Note: Even though using a stick reader is optional, we encourage you to use one since it prevents mistakes in transcription and helps you save time. Just connect your computer to the necessary equipment and your data will be displayed directly in the software program. Would you like to benefit from the stick reader lending service? Contact your service centre.

Step 2 : Take the Census

Take the census of your tag numbers in either of these ways:

  • By using a stick reader;
  • By taking note of your tag numbers and entering them into your software program.

Step 3 : Transfer Your Data

Authenticate yourself with our on-line services, using the user code and password obtained in Step 1, to safely transfer your data.

Note that La Financière agricole forwards data to the ATQ every day.

All the approved software programs provide you with a transaction number for each form you send. Keep the number as proof of the transfer.

Step 4 : Transmit Your Documents of Proof

All the approved software programs provide you with a transaction number for each form you send. Keep the number as proof of the transfer.

  • By fax;
  • By e-mail (if you have already scanned your documents);
  • By mail;
  • By delivering them directly to your service centre.

When you transmit your documents of proof to your service centre, indicate your transaction number obtained in Step 3. It is not necessary to transmit documents of proof for animals born on the farm.
