Emergency Fund for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea, Swine Delta Coronavirus and Senecavirus A in Québec

Payment of Financial Assistance

If your operation is eligible, a $5,000 advance may be paid by La Financière agricole upon recommendation from the head of the EQSP. This advance would be taken into account when the operation's final claim is processed.

Payments are limited to a maximum of $20,000 per production site affected by PED, SDCV or Senecavirus A. The maximum amount can reach $30,000 for a site on which a nursery is present.

A production site is a place with one or several traceability sites serving to raise hogs and located at a same civic address in Québec. Each traceability site may have one or several buildings in which animals belonging to a same owner are raised.

Additional Costs Covered

If your operation is affected, you must:

  • Rigorously follow the intervention plan proposed by the EQSP;
  • Assume certain specific costs in addition to regular production costs.

The emergency fund will cover the following additional expenses:

  • Exceptional veterinary costs;
  • Additional costs for disposing of contaminated carcasses;
  • Additional biosafety material;
  • Additional costs for confining herds;
  • Exceptional costs for washing, disinfecting and drying buildings, equipment and trucks;
  • Other additional costs related to biosecurity measures recommended by the attending veterinarian.
