Protection of Personal Information

Personal information includes any factual or subjective information about an identifiable individual. It includes:

  • Individual's name and address
  • Information on gender and age
  • Personal insurance, financing or income protection files
  • ID numbers, including client number and social insurance number

Confidential personal information may not be given out to a third party without the consent of the person concerned. This consent must be freely given, enlightened and manifest. It must be given for specific purposes and for a limited time.

Within the limits imposed by the Access Act, personal information may be communicated or accessible without the consent of the person concerned when:

  • La Financière agricole confers a written mandate following an agreement to perform work or conduct a survey;
  • The persons, agencies or departments that request it have inquiry powers granted by the law.
