Description

This individual program, like the AgriInvest program, is based on savings. You can deposit an annual amount in an account and receive equivalent government contributions in return.

Amounts deposited into the Agri-Québec account thereby become a reserve allowing you to better manage the risks facing your operation.

Since 2017, if your operation is in transition toward organic production, you can benefit from additional support from the Agri-Québec program.

This contribution almost doubles the current government intervention for a maximum duration of three years. It is granted to pre-certified production, when the income of pre-certified products represents at least 50% of the operation’s eligible income.

Operations that initiated pre-certification procedures as of 2015 are automatically eligible for this increase due to an information-sharing agreement with the Conseil des appellations réservées et des termes valorisants (reserved designations and enhancement terms board, or CARTV).

Note that the following products are not allowable under the Agri-Québec program:

• Products covered or associated with the ASRA program or under supply-management;
• Forestry products;
• Racehorses;
• Peat moss;
• Cannabis;
• Wild animals in their natural environment;
• Resale of products that do not stem from the farming operation;
• Income derived from agricultural or aquacultural activities carried on outside of Québec.

Products covered or associated with the Farm Income Stabilization Insurance Program (ASRA) have not been allowable since 2014.
